From the very beginning of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of heroes, and a gripping narrative showcasing angels, evil spirits, and sinister influences growing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a major cliffhanger and presented the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their own adventure, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Given an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Warrior Group
As described by Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for participants who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy narrative style where diplomatic options are scarce.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might seem unsuited, but the events of the latest installment show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the team knows exactly where to proceed after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, invading the hidden lair, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then cleared his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could help the group reach locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the setting for a range of causes, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The cleric defied the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This results in them few options but to head to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party will not appear in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the players to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
